1966 Epiphone Casino 230-T in Royal Tan Sunburst
This gorgeous, wonderful, vintage guitar is an absolute joy to play. It has a perfect neck, clean frets, very low action (.04" at the 12th fret), feels great against your body. and is resonant as hell--loud and boomy, even when unplugged. It sports a "Royal Tan Sunburst" Kalamazoo, Michigan factory finish with honey-brown figured back. Perhaps its best feature is the fabulous "ambering" and crazing of the finish and binding which has evolved from over 55 years of service. This guitar feels, sounds, and even smells like a vintage guitar should. Includes both an original 1966 Epiphone Tremotone vibrato tailpiece ($700 all on its own) and its original '66 trapeze tailpiece. Even has the rare-as-hen's-teeth "E" logo trussrod cover. Comes with a period Gretsch case which fits the guitar perfectly. Its only blemish is a small partial headstock neck repair from 1969 (so said the 2nd owner... I'm the 3rd). which is minimal and very clean. Comes with two pickguards--one original, and one a recent pearloid reissue "E" model; and two sets of true vintage 60's knobs--black (shown) and '66 vintage tan (now on the guitar). Shown below with its older brother ('64 Casino), they just don't make guitars like this anymore... $5000
