Rickenbacker Model 1993-Plus
This is Rickenbacker's latest addition to the line-up: a re-issue of the 12 string that Pete Townshend used to destroy with some regularity back in the mid-sixties. Finally, someone at Ric got a clue and added the wider neck to it, making it much more playable 12 string than Pete ever handled. When I saw its recent press release online, I knew I had to have one, so I sold my wonderful 2007 Rickenbacker 360/12 C63 in order to finance the purchase. My C63 had been altered/improved by Mark Arnquist, ex-Rickenbacker factory guy otherwise known as "the Rickendoctor," so it was sweet and hard to turn loose, but this guitar is even more sweet. I've added the gold plastic accessories and stove top knobs to finish off the look. It's a real player (.05" at the 12th fret--that's low as hell for a 12 string) plus I managed to pull off a silver re-issue case at the last minute before it left Wildwood Guitars in Colorado so that was good... This one's even got some "ghost flame" in the maple top, which these aren't supposed to have. So yeah--ghost flame, up-graded silver case, and two sets of guards/knobs. $4500
